School Breakfast and the Breakfast Challenge

Today, too many kids come to school with an empty stomach.  The positive effects of starting the day with breakfast are difficult to ignore.  Several studies reinforce this.  According to No Kid Hungry’s 2024 research brief: Breakfast for Learning, there are multiple benefits for breakfast including improved attendance, behavior and academic performance, especially for math, as well as decreased tardiness.

Missouri No Kid Hungry works with organizations to make sure every child starts the day with a healthy breakfast.

The goal is simple: make a nutritious breakfast a normal part of the school day and available to everyone.
